"This is super performance and they (Red Bull) deserve it. They are winning everything and we have to do better." " ...Fernando Alonso
It was another uneventful race at the front and the championship looks to be a mathematical formality now. Further down the field though, there was some exciting racing with Nico Hulkenberg in particular putting in a notable performance.
On the betting front it was an excellent week all round for my tips with all four of my sets of tips making a profit and my 'Longer Priced Bets' in particular producing a pleasing return...
Pre Qualifying Tips:
Shorter Priced Bets:
Fastest Q3 Time (Pole Position):10 points on Lewis Hamilton at 3.0 - LOSS
Sebastian Vettel's domination of qualifying continued with his third consectuive pole position.
Qualifying Winning Margin:
10 points on Under 0.25 Seconds at 1.62 - WIN 16 points
Sebastian Vettel took pole from Lewis Hamilton by 0.218 seconds.
Top Ten Finish:
10 points on Nico Hulkenberg at 1.91 (Coral, Bet Victor) - WIN 19 points
Nico Hulkenberg's strong form continues and in fact a bet on a Top Ten finish was playing it safe as Hulkenberg held on at the end to withstand heavy pressure from Hamilton and Alonso to bring his car home in fourth position.
Making an overall return of 35 points from 30 points and therefore my ongoing total now stands at 65 points.
Taking A Risk/Longer Priced Bets:
Race Winner:10 points eachway* on Mark Webber at 51.0
Webber was making his way up impressively through the field and this bet was heading for a potential eachway payout until Mark unluckily got a puncture late on caused by debris from Sergio Perez's tyre delamination. His bad luck then continued on the restart when Adrian Sutil lost his back end and collected Mark in the process, bringing an end to Webber's race.
* SkyBet pay 1/5 the odds for the first 3 places.
Podium Finish:
10 points on Romain Grosjean at 7.5 - WIN 75 points
Romain Grosjean seems to have upped his game since Kimi's move to Ferrari was announced and for most of the race he looked to be heading for a comfortable second place finish. A late mistake allowed team-mate Kimi Raikkonen the chance to push Grosjean back into third position, but overall it was still a solid weekend as Romain took his third podium of the season.
Qualifying Match Bets:
10 points accumulator: - LOSS
Romain Grosjean V Kimi Raikkonen - Romain Grosjean at 1.8
Sergio Perez V Nico Hulkenberg - Sergio Perez at 2.1
Jules Bianchi V Max Chilton - Jules Bianchi at 1.14
Making an overall return of 75 points from 30 points and therefore my ongoing total now stands at 86 points.
Post Qualifying Tips:
Shorter Priced Bets:
Podium Finish:10 points on Fernando Alonso at 2.0 (BetFred)
Fernando was nudged by his team-mate Massa on the first lap and from then on he had a scruffy race and eventually finished in a disappointing 6th place.
Lap 1 Retirements:
20 points on 'Lap 1 Retirements - None' at 1.5 - WIN 30 points
This has been a winning bet at every Grand Prix bar Monza this season and once again it produced the goods.
Total Classified Finishers:
10 points on 'Over 18.5 Classified Finishers' at 2.1 - WIN 21 points
Before the race SkyBet were offering 2.2 on 'Over 18.5 Finishers' while Paddy Power were offering 2.1 on 'Under 18.5 Finishers' so if you've got accounts with both bookies you could have guaranteed a profit. In the end twenty drivers were classified at the Korean Grand Prix so I backed the right option with my predictions.
Making an overall return of 51 points from 40 points and therefore my ongoing total now stands at 118 points.
Taking A Risk/Longer Priced Bets:
Top Six Finish:10 points on Nico Hulkenberg at 7.0 - WIN 70 points
Nico Hulkenberg put in the drive of the day to hold off Lewis Hamilton in the closing stages, finishing an impressive fouth, and so surely now he must be on the top of Lotus' list for next season.
Finishing Position:
10 points on Mark Webber to finish 3rd or 4th - LOSS
Webber looked on course to claim a likely 3rd or 4th, or possibly even battle it out for 2nd, until his puncture caused him to take an unscheduled pitstop before even more dramas when Adrian Sutil brought an end to his race.
Match Bets:
10 point accumulator: - LOSS
Paul di Resta V Adrian Suril - Adrian Sutil at 1.83
Daniel Ricciardo V Jean-Eric Vergne - Daniel Ricciardo at 1.5
Jules Bianchi V Max Chilton - Jules Bianchi at 1.25
Making an overall return of 70 points from 30 points and therefore my ongoing total now stands at 93 points.
Unfortunately I'll be doing a lot of travelling over the next week and so the tight schedule between Korea and Suzuka means that I won't have time to feature the usual in-depth analysis on F1 Tips Blog, but I'll try to fit in a summary of the best bets by the form guide.
