The Form Guide After Spain: Part 2 - Top Six Finish

Formula 1 Betting By Numbers

In the build up to the Spanish Grand Prix, I went over the most profitable bets and the safest bets so far this season, and so as Monaco approaches I'm once again featuring a series of posts analysing the best bets so far this season in some of the most popular formula 1 betting markets.

Yesterday I posted the 'Betting Profit' charts for the Winning Driver and Podium Finish betting markets, which you can find at the following link:

Today it's the turn of the Top Six Finish betting market and for the benefit of anyone new to this blog, the following chart shows the profit you would have made if you'd bet £1 on the same driver for a top six finish at every Grand Prix during 2013:

Top 6 Finish Profit* Winning Bet
Felipe Massa 2.26 4
Sebastian Vettel 1.22 5
Lewis Hamilton 0.99 4
Romain Grosjean 0.63 2
Kimi Raikkonen 0.30 4
Sergio Perez 0.00 1
Mark Webber -0.18 3
Nico Rosberg -0.80 2
Fernando Alonso -1.16 3
Paul Di Resta -1.25 1
Jenson Button -2.80 1
Rest Of The Field -5.00 0

* Please note, even in the few days before first practise, the odds can sometimes vary slightly, so I've generally tried to take the odds a few days before each Grand Prix as soon as the market opened on SkyBet.

As you can see Sebastian Vettel is the only driver to finish in the top six at every Grand Prix this season, so despite Red Bull's tyre complaints they're still not doing too badly.  However, it's Felipe Massa who has been the most profitable bet, as his odds have generally hovered around the 1.5 mark, and Massa's overall profit is helped by the fact that at the Australian opener he was available at a generous 2.63 for a top six finish.

Lewis Hamilton drops from the top spot down to third in the table after a Spanish Grand Prix he'll want to forget where he failed to even make the points.  The other consistent driver with four top six finishes is Kimi Raikkonen, but as you'd expect his top six odds have been very short, and therefore Kimi only just manages to sneak a slim profit in the top six 'Betting Profit' charts.

Here's an infographic based on the above data:

Next up is the Top Ten Finish betting market which I'll report on in the next few days.
